How much CO2 in tonnes does the UK produce?

In 2020, the UK produced 356.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from energy use. This figure represents a decrease of 11% compared to the previous year, and is the lowest level of CO2 emissions from energy use since 1972.

The UK's CO2 emissions from energy use have been declining in recent years, due to a number of factors, including:

* The increasing use of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power

* The improved energy efficiency of buildings and appliances

* The switch from coal to natural gas for power generation

Despite these improvements, the UK still has a long way to go in terms of reducing its CO2 emissions. The government has set a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and is working on a number of policies to achieve this goal.
