How deep is the River Thames in London?
The River Thames varies in depth from place to place. At Teddington Lock, downstream of central London, the average depth of the river is around 7.5 metres, according to the Port of London Authority. However, the river can be much shallower in some places, particularly near the river banks, and can be more than 10 metres deep in the middle of the river. Additionally, the depth of the river can vary significantly depending on the tides and the amount of rainfall.
