Ellis Island Location: New York Harbor, Off Manhattan

Ellis Island sits in Upper New York Bay, just off the southern tip of Manhattan (and Jersey City). It's part of New York City (mostly) and New Jersey (by landfill agreement).

From 1892–1954, it was the primary entry point for European immigrants. Over 12 million passed through. Today it's a museum accessible by ferry from Battery Park (NYC) or Liberty State Park (NJ).
