How Many People Visit Big Ben Each Year? The Data Gap

There is no official annual visitor count for Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower) because:

• The tower interior is not routinely open to the public. Tours (UK residents only, via MP sponsorship) were suspended 2017–2022 for the £80M conservation project.
• Even when operating, tours accommodated ~75,000 visitors/year—tiny compared to the millions who view/photograph the exterior.
• The Houses of Parliament (Palace of Westminster) tracks parliamentary visitors separately (~1M/year pre-pandemic), but tower-specific data isn't published.
