Have your application expedited. If you need your passport in a hurry, expediting the process can get your new passport to you within two to three weeks, door-to-door. The fee for the government expediting a passport, as of November 2010, is $60 plus overnight delivery costs. Simply request your passport to be expedited while submitting your application.
Schedule an appointment. Those who need passports for international travel in less than two weeks can schedule appointments at Regional Passport Agencies within California. An automated appointment scheduling system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please note that customers requesting this service need to provide evidence of their travel also.
Apply locally. You can apply for a passport at many local post offices around California. Some post offices also take passport photos for $15, so you can save even more time with the process by completing the application in one location.
Use a passport expediter service. If you are renewing your passport, you can use a company to rush the application process for a fee. Some online companies, such as Rushmypassport and Rushpassport offer expedited passport services that can have your application approved within as little as 24 hours.
