Time Zone Alignment: New York and Miami Share the Same Time

There is no time difference between New York and Miami — both cities are located in the Eastern Time Zone (ET) and observe Eastern Standard Time (EST) in winter and Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) in summer, switching simultaneously. When it is 12:00 PM in New York, it is also 12:00 PM in Miami. The original claim of a one-hour difference is incorrect; Florida's peninsula does not cross into Central Time until the panhandle west of the Apalachicola River, far from Miami.
