Despite the similar name, the American Power Boat Association (APBA) is not located in Eastpointe, Michigan. Its national headquarters are in:
Tavares, Florida
1000 W. Main St., Tavares, FL 32778
Phone: (352) 343-4300
Founded in 1903, APBA is the governing body for powerboat racing in the U.S., sanctioning events from outboard hydroplanes to offshore catamarans. It also maintains historical records and safety standards.
Eastpointe (formerly East Detroit) is a suburb of Detroit and may host local racing clubs or marine businesses, but it is not the APBA's base. The confusion may stem from Michigan's strong boating culture and numerous APBA-sanctioned events on the Great Lakes.
For membership, rulebooks, event schedules, or historical records, contact the Tavares headquarters directly or visit apba.com.
