Port St. Joe is not on the Florida Panhandle. It sits on the Forgotten Coast in Gulf County, along the northwestern shore of Apalachicola Bay in north-central coastal Florida.
The "Forgotten Coast" refers to a quiet, less-developed stretch spanning Franklin, Gulf, Liberty, and Wakulla counties—east of the more touristed Panama City Beach/Destin corridor. Port St. Joe is roughly 100 miles southwest of Tallahassee and 50 miles southeast of Panama City.
Key landmarks: St. Joseph Peninsula State Park (beaches, dunes), the historic Cape San Blas lighthouse, and a working waterfront with shrimp boats and charter fishing.
