Were toranto and Washington D.C. big cities 300 years ago?

Neither Toronto nor Washington D.C. were big cities 300 years ago.

In 1723, Toronto was known as York and was primarily a small settlement with a population of around 250 people. It was not until much later in the 19th century that the city began to grow rapidly, largely due to the influx of immigrants from Europe.

Similarly, Washington D.C. was founded in 1790, but at that time it was little more than a small town. The city's population was just around 3,200 people, and it was not until the early 19th century that it grew into the bustling metropolis that it is today.
