Fun Things for a 2 Year Old in Middle Tennessee

As many parents know, a bored toddler can be an unpleasant thing with which to contend. Fortunately for little tike's in Middle Tennessee there are many places where exploration and adventures await. Whether they enjoy visiting animals, showing their artistic side or water fun in the sun, toddlers in the region can be taken many places.
  1. Animal Encounters

Jungle Gym has slides, tunnels,swings, caves and dancing water fountains. The Wild Animal Carousel has 39 brightly colored animals on which children can ride. The Wilderness Express Train Ride takes guests around the property for a relaxing tour. At Critter Encounters children can pet animals such as goats. While at the zoo they can also get an up close view of meerkats, flamingos, monkeys, cougars, Bengal tigers, Red Pandas, Alligators and more.

Play with light and sound on the Shadow Wall where children can see their shadow on a glow-in-the-dark wall. There is a planetarium in house as well.

      Frist Center's Martin Artquest Gallery,(fristcenter.org), located in Nashville is fun for the entire family, but interactive enough to hold a two-year old's attention. As part of the 24,000 sq. ft. Frist Center for the Visual Arts that houses artwork from local to international artists, the Martin Artquest Gallery has thirty creation stations. Children are encouraged to let their artistic side show by sketching, painting or creative collages.

    Summer Fun

    • Children and their parents can ride inner tubes down the lazy river at Nashville Shores Water Park.

Kowabunga Beach is a four-story water treehouse and spray ground sure to cool off the little ones. The 1,000 feet lazy river "Castaway Creek" is a inner tube ride past geysers and waterfalls. Lily Pad Pool and Wacky Pond both have places for children to jump and splash and for an authentic beach experience play in the sand on Percy Priest Lake.
