The Sea Life aquarium is packed full of interactive activities for toddlers. Children will have the opportunity to watch sea creatures such as an octopus being fed as well as be able to get close-up views of several fish, sharks and sting rays. As of November 2010 the aquarium is open daily and hours vary according to the season. As of November 2010, admission into the aquarium is $19 for adults, $12 for children and free for children under two.
The San Diego Zoo has numerous animal exhibits including the children's zoo that has been created for especially for toddlers, including a petting zoo. Toddlers will have fun riding in the Skyfari Aerial Tram to visit the polar bears, riding the miniature train and/or feeding the giraffes. As of November 2010 the zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. all year except December 25 until January 2 when the zoo is open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Admission price as of November 2010 is $37 for adults, $27 for children aged 3-12 and free for children under three. The admission prices include the guided tour bus, skyfari aerial tram, express bus and the exhibits.
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center has activities and exhibits for children of all ages with a special section, Kid City, designed for children aged infant through five. Kid City has activities such as a block corner, grocery store, factory and book area. Also in the science center is an IMAX theater and simulated planetarium.
As of November 2010 the museum hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Admission prices as of November 2010 are $10 for adults, $8.75 for seniors aged 65 and older, 8.75 for juniors aged 3-12 and free for children under three.
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park has several toddler-friendly activities such as watching the elephants come in a herd for their morning food at the "elephant rush." In discovery station they can play with puppets, musical instruments, crafts and a variety of other toys. The journey into Africa tour enables children to see zebras, giraffes, cheetahs and rhinos in their natural habitat. There is also a carousel with seats made to resemble a variety of animals.
Admission prices include the African safari tour, the carousel and all exhibits and, as of November 2010, is $37 for adults, $27 for children ages 3-11 and free for children under three. Parking is an additional $9 for all vehicles except RVs which are $14. As of November 2010 the Safari Park is daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with the exception of holidays and winter hours which are extended until 6 p.m.
