4th of July Celebrations Near Daytona, Florida

The coastal city of Daytona Beach, Florida, is located in the northeastern region of the Sunshine State. Considered to be a family-friendly destination, it serves as one of the state's more popular year-round resort cities. The city is perhaps best known as the host of the Daytona 500, arguably the most famous stateside automobile race. The city hosts an annual fireworks celebration, and there are several other Fourth of July celebratory options nearby as well.
  1. Red, White and Boom!

    • Red, White and Boom! is an annual, free Fourth of July musical event held at the Daytona Beach Bandshell, an historic live-music venue. The celebration is cosponsored by the city and typically begins with live music from area pop, rock and blues bands, as well as a rendition of the national anthem. Past acts have include The Stumblers, a blues and rock band; and the Token Fat Guys, a duo that plays acoustic music and specializes in comedy. While the bandshell area allows no personal coolers, beverages are for sale at the event, and chairs can be rented.

    4th of July at The Boardwalk

    • 4th of July at The Boardwalk is held at Daytona Beach's Boardwalk, an amusement area that features the historic Main Street Pier and numerous arcades and stores. Featured attractions include a Ferris wheel and go-carts. The fireworks display, put on by the City of Daytona Beach, occurs at the pier area. It usually commences after dusk, typically around 9:45 p.m. Generally, many of the shops along the beachfront host children's activities. Some of the shops include Point Break, which sells casual beachwear; Caribongo, which sells jewelry and beach accessories; and the Maui Nix surf shop.

    New Smyrna Beach Fourth of July Fireworks and 5k Run

    • The city of New Smyrna Beach, 18 minutes from Daytona Beach, hosts a Fourth of July event that includes fireworks and a 5k run. The race is typically held in the morning, while fireworks are set off after dusk along the waterfront. The fireworks display is generally preceded by live music, which begins in the late afternoon. New Smyrna was the recipient of the Orlando Sentinel's "Best Bets for the Best Beach" award in 2011.

    City of Edgewater Fourth of July celebration

    • Edgewater, Florida, which is 23 minutes from Daytona Beach, hosts a Fourth of July celebration that starts with a city-sponsored 5-kilometer walk/run. That is generally followed by festivities at 4.5-acre Menard-May Park that include vendors, food and live music. The park offers covered pavilions and public restrooms. At dusk, a fireworks show is held at George R. Kennedy Park, a waterfront facility.
