Shreveport is located on the northwest side of Louisiana and conveniently just off Highway 20. Shreveport is one of the larger cities in the area and home to a number of attractions including the Hirsch Memorial Stadium, Shreveport Country Club and Centenary College. The Shreveport area is also home to a number of play places specifically catering to little children.
Gymboree is located on the south side of Shreveport, conveniently off Highway 49. For over 30 years, Gymboree has offered a wide variety of programs for children ages 0-5. The activities are designed by experts in early childhood development and help develop their social, cognitive and physical skills as they play. The Renzi Education and Art Center (See resources) is located in the Highland Stoner Hill neighborhood, just south of downtown Shreveport. Renzi was started by a Catholic group called Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows as well as community activists and professional artists. Their goal was to create an environment where children can experience all forms of art and music in a playful and fun environment. All Renzi after-school youth programs are free and range from drawing and making collages to piano and dance classes.
Right To Play Incorporated is located just west of the downtown section of Shreveport. Right To Play (See resources) caters specifically to disabled or special needs children that deserve a place to play without ridicule, fear or frustration. The goal is to provide a fun environment that is free of prejudice as well as enabling a child to build his or her self-esteem. The playground is specifically designed to improve strength, balance and movement for children with physical limitations. It also features play areas that stimulate touch, sight, sound and even taste.
Chuck E. Cheese's is located less than one mile west of Shreveport in the town of Bossier City. (See resources) Chuck E. Cheese's mission is to provide wholesome entertainment and a party environment for family and friends. They offer a number of games, rides, prizes and entertainment featuring an animated variety stage show. Chuck E. Cheese also can be a convenient place to host a child's birthday party of special event as they have a number of party deals that include tokens, food and party favors.
