Located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Paradise, California, is a town where seniors will find dozens of activities to enjoy. Whether you enjoy dancing or sports or taking leisurely strolls, Paradise is a place where you'll be able to keep yourself entertained by learning new things and meeting other people who share the same interests.
Depending on your fitness level, you can take dance classes for adults in Paradise. Belly dancing classes, social and ballroom dancing classes, tap classes for beginners and intermediate tap are available in the Terry Ashe Recreation Center. You'll learn basic and intermediate belly dance techniques, basic steps for beginning tap classes and new steps in intermediate tap. Social and ballroom dancing classes are for adult couples only and are taught by a champion dance instructor. A fee is paid per person for each class.
Seniors can enjoy participating in leisure classes in Paradise. Bingo, dinners, seminars and educational programs such as nutrition education are offered in the Paradise Senior Center. The Paradise Recreation Center has crochet classes where you can learn the basic techniques of crocheting. Drawing lessons and dog obedience classes are available in the Terry Ashe Recreation Center. If you like gardening, the Terry Ashe Recreation Center also has a basic composting class, where you'll learn how to turn waste into compost.
In the Paul Byrne Aquatic Park, which is open from June to August, you can go for a swim. The Paradise Center for Healthy Living, which focuses on your emotional, physical and spiritual health, offers meditation classes, reiki training and pain management classes. Tai Chi classes are available in the Terry Ashe Recreation Center in the winter months and in the Bille Park Pavilion from spring through fall. Golf lessons for adults are offered in the Tuscan Ridge Golf Club.
If you don't want to join a class or participate in a program, you can go walking or jogging in one of Paradise's parks. Places where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or jog in Paradise are in Bille Park, Bille Park Expansion, Moore Road Park and the 340-acre Coutolenc Park. If you have a pet, you can both go for a walk in Moore Road Park's dog park. Bille Park and Bille Park Expansion are gated parks and are open from 7 a.m. until dusk.
