In the summer, children love to go to the swimming pools. Carson has three swimming pools: Carson Pool, Dominguez Aquatic Center and Scott Pool. (They will be adding a fourth in the summer of 2009.) Carson Pool is a 25-yard pool with a 2½-feet shallow end and a 10-feet deep end. They also have a 1-meter diving board. Children can take swimming lessons at this pool. At the Dominguez Aquatic Center, children are bound to have fun. This center has a kiddie pool, an activity pool, and water slides. There's a 16 1/2-feet-high curving water slide, and then a smaller, 6-feet water slide. Swim lessons are also available at this pool. Scott Pool is very similar to Carson Pool, except the shallow end is 3 feet. They also have a program called Mini Guards, for children between the ages of 9 and 11. It is a 10-week program in the summer, and it is an introduction to water safety and lifeguard skills.
Besides swimming, children can enjoy other sports in Carson during the summer. They can sign up for baseball, softball and basketball. To sign up for summer sports in Carson, it is encouraged to call the local park where you will be participating.
