Brocton is a small village within the state of New York. According to the 2009 census the population numbered roughly 1,600. Best known for being the location of the Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility, the village hosts a few modest eateries within the town. However, more options exist in nearby Fredonia.
This family-run restaurant operated since 1983, offering an America-style diner to the inhabitants of Brocton, however the building's function as an eatery began in the 1930s. Stepping inside reveals a long counter with bar stools in the tradition of a classic diner. Menu offerings include omelets, full breakfasts, burgers, meatloaf, steaks and sandwiches. As of February 2011, no dishes were priced over $9.
This modestly-sized eatery doubles as a bakery and café serving hot food throughout the day. As well as popping in to purchase cream cakes and muffins to go, customers can sit and enjoy food from the menu which changes daily, but includes things such as goulash, meatloaf and chicken Alfredo. The Bread Box opens from Tuesday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Though not located in Brocton itself, the Ellicotville Brewing Company is only six miles away in Fredonia. While the restaurant offers an extensive selection of beers, the food menu is equally large. From quesadillas and bruschetta to shepherd’s pie and New York strip steaks, this eatery is ideal for those with an appetite. Beer enthusiasts will find a number of ales, wheat beers and lagers from around the world.
Diners can also find the Eastside Grill in Fredonia, an eatery specializing in grilled steaks, scallops, wings and burgers. As of February 2011, pasta dishes and steaks were priced at around $16. For those wanting to try something different, the restaurant offers banana peppers stuffed with sausage, sautéed mussels and vodka pasta. This cozy eatery is family-friendly and opens till 9.30 p.m. during the week and 10 p.m. on weekends.
