Things to Do at Riverfront Park in Nashville

Riverfront Park on the Cumberland River in Nashville is a destination for residents and visitors to Music City. Festivals include the Music City BBQ Festival and the Music City Jazz, Blues, and Heritage Festival. Riverfront Park has no shortage of activities.

  1. Concerts and Festivals

    • In true Music City style, Riverfront Park hosts a variety of concerts each year featuring country and rock. Many concerts showcase country music artists like Trace Adkins and Julianne Hough. Some concerts take advantage of the floating stage on the Cumberland River. Rock music concerts like Buzzfest showcase artists like Alice and Chains, and Chevelle. The Music City Independence Day Concert Spectacular, held every 4th of July, is a huge concert with a fireworks display on the river. The park is also host to the Nashville Pride Festival.

    Historic Fort Nashborough

    • Historic Fort Nashborough is a restored historic settlement in Riverfront Park, originally built in 1780. Today, tours of the frontier fort settlement show visitors what life was like for Nashville's early settlers. See the settlement's log cabins and witness recreators, who dress in costumes from the late 1700s. Admission to Fort Nashborough is free for self-guided tours.

    Fox Trot Carousel

    • Since 1998, the Fox Trot Carousel has been a Riverfront Park attraction. It consists of 36 unconventional figures from Tennessee's history created by artist Red Grooms. Some of the characters featured on the merry-go-round are Davy Crockett, Kitty Wells and the Everly Brothers. A small fee is charged to ride the carousel.

    Cumberland River

    • Riverfront Park is located on the waterfront of the Cumberland River, so the river itself is the park's main attraction. Visitors enjoy the scenery, watch concerts performed on the floating stage, or take river cruises aboard the General Jackson Showboat, a large paddle wheel riverboat. The showboat offers lunch and dinner cruises, and music and theatrical performances. "Country Music USA" features performances of country songs through history by artists such as Patsy Cline and Carrie Underwood. Dinner cruises include three-course meals.
