While landlocked Indianapolis may not be the first city that comes to mind when you think "waterfront dining," the city's canals, rivers and small lakes mean there are several options to do just that. Z's Oyster Bar & Steakhouse has a location in Louisville, Kentucky and one that opened in 2008 near the Castleton Village Shopping Center in Indianapolis. It features the "Z-Side Patio,” which affords the best view of the small lake located nearby. All of the restaurant's seafood is purchased directly from day-boat fishermen and prepared with simple ingredients. Z's Oyster Bar and Steakhouse is open daily and features private space for banquets and other private functions. It also features live music on Thursday nights.

Rick’s, which opened in 1994, has live jazz music every night along with complimentary valet parking. Boat rides are an option here during the spring and summer.

Views of the White River are best seen from the restaurant's outdoor patio, but can also be glimpsed from indoors. The menu includes a variety of pasta dishes, salads and house specialties such as Salomone al Piatto, Scaloppini Marsala, Rosticciana, Filetto con Funghi and the fresh catch of the day. The atmosphere is intimate, ideal for a romantic dinner or cozy evening out with family and friends.
