Overlooking Military Park along the canal is the Indiana State Museum, which offers the indoor/outdoor Canal Cafe. The cafe serves family-friendly foods such as pizza, salads and sandwiches. The cafe is open during regular museum hours. The museum also offers the L.S. Ayres Tea Room, which offers lunch and afternoon tea.
The Indiana History Center offers locals and tourists the Stardust Terrace Cafe. The cafe serves up sandwiches, various entrees, salads, soups and desserts. Diners may enjoy the inside or outside seating. Free concerts are held along the canal by the cafe all summer long, which make Stardust Terrace a great dining option for music lovers.
The Buggs Temple, formerly a church, was donated to the city and features the fine dining Tavern at the Temple, which serves entrees with regional ingredients. The Temple is located at the headwaters of the canal and offers Sunday brunch, catering, fine dining and a large selection of vegetable and meat entrees.
