Lake Conroe Restaurants on the Water in Houston

Lake Conroe, about 40 miles north of downtown Houston, is home to restaurants that are directly at the lake. These restaurants offer direct access from a boat, have live music and a variety of foods. The man-made lake was built in 1973 as an alternative water source for Houston. The city of Houston, Texas Water Development Board and the San Jacinto River Authority partnered to build it.

  1. The County Line

    • The owners of The County Line restaurant served up barbecue for more than 25 years before opening their location on Lake Conroe. There are other locations throughout the state, including one in nearby northwest Houston. The Lake Conroe location has two patios that overlook the lake. Weekly free music concerts are held on the patio stage, where concert attendees can walk or drive up in a car or boat to enjoy the music. The County Line offers dine-in and take-out service. There is also a delivery service. Space is available at The County Line restaurant for banquets and private parties. The restaurant also rents party boats and jet skis. The County Line restaurant has been featured on the Food Network.

    Papa’s on the Lake

    • Papa’s on the Lake offers food and entertainment right at Lake Conroe. The restaurant’s menu consists of a variety of appetizers and sandwiches. Papa’s on the Lake also has a full bar. Weekly food and drink specials are available. The restaurant’s weekly entertainment includes live bands, and it's equipped with pool tables, video games and indoor and outdoor volleyball courts. An outdoor deck overlooks Lake Conroe. Patrons can drive their boats directly up to the restaurant.

    Sam’s Boat

    • Sam’s Boat restaurants, with locations throughout Texas in Montgomery, Houston, Stafford, Seabrook and Austin, have garnered a list of awards throughout the years. The following awards have been given to the Houston area locations by the now-defunct Houston Post, the Houston Press and AOL Citysearch: Best Fajitas in Houston in 1987, Best Crawfish in Houston in 1996, Houston’s Best Deck in 1999, Best Place to People Watch in 2000 and Best Outdoor Bar in 2003. The restaurant chain has been in business for more than 25 years. The Lake Conroe location lies directly at the lake, offering direct access from a boat. There is a full menu with a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts. The restaurant specializes in seafood and Tex-Mex dishes. Sam’s Boat has live music each week.
