Sedona, Arizona is 5,000 feet in elevation and offers visitors a diverse choice of activities. These include spas, resorts, wineries, many restaurants and outdoor activities. The Red Rocks Fantasy Festival runs from the middle of November to the middle of January and is enjoyed by thousands of people each year. This 20-year-old tradition features many different light displays throughout Sedona. These displays are created by local families and a vote is cast to decide which display is the favorite. Children can participate in scavenger hunts and prizes are given. The event also helps to boost the local economy and proceeds are donated to local charities such as the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Arizona and the Institute of EcoTourism. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children, as of winter 2011.
The Festival of lights takes place in early December in the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village in Sedona. This local tradition involves the lighting of 6,000 luminaries that are displayed throughout the villages courtyards and walkways. There are many different performances and musical acts for visitors to enjoy. Special luminaries can also be purchased ahead of time to honor cancer victims and survivors. This event is free to anyone attending and trolley rides from Uptown Municipal Parking to Tlaquepaque are provided.
Pink Jeep Tours run throughout the year and offer specials throughout the month of December and around the holidays. Throughout the month of December, Pink Jeep Tours offers many discounts on trips to visitors such as a two tour discount and the Sedona day trip package. Both tour packages will take visitors through the snow-dusted red rocks. These tours provide off-road family adventures throughout the south and are headquartered in Sedona. Trips include excursions to Broken Arrow, Ancient Ruin and Diamondback.
The Sedona Museum has an annual Christmas celebration in which they decorate with vintage holiday decorations and provide entertainment for adults and children alike. Admission is free and cider, cookies, entertainment and other activities are provided. These include arts and craft activities such as making corn husk dolls, storytelling by pioneer descendants and book signings by local authors as well as holiday music.
