Gay men in Miami have a range of options to choose from when looking for a night out. From bars that provide drag entertainment and go-go boys, such as Twist and Score, to locales with extensive menus, such as Palace. Miami's diverse gay bars accommodate both travelers and locals alike.
Score offers four different sections. The front bar offers a large bar with a lounge area to enjoy cocktails. The Lincoln Road terrace overlooks the popular promenade for people watching. The bar also contains a club section where shows and dancing take place, and the Creme Lounge is a private upstairs area available to rent. The bar offers various happy hour specials on Mondays through Fridays from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 3 to 8 p.m. Special events take place throughout the week such as karaoke on Sundays at 9 p.m. and a VJ on Mondays, letting guests choose the music videos to play. Mova was established in Washington D.C. before opening a second location in Miami. The publication 'New Times' named Mova as the "best gay bar in South Beach." After consulting various environmental groups, the bar turned itself into an environmentally-friendly business. Drink specials include a 2-4-1 night on Wednesdays, with two drinks for the price of one, and a happy hour every day of the week. Entertainment includes bingo games hosted by drag queens and VJs that play contemporary music videos. The bar has no cover charge for entrance. (See Reference 2)
Apart from its service as a bar, Palace also offers extended food options. The menu consists of standard appetizers as well as more specialized items such as humus and pitas. There is also a breakfast menu, burgers and an extensive list of salads. Sundays feature Brunchic, a brunch with all-you-can-drink Bloody Marys and mimosas and a fixed menu from 11:30 to 1:30 or from 2 to 3:30 p.m, complete with drag performances. The slogan of Twist is "never a cover...always a groove." The establishment opened in 1993, providing customers with dancers, music, drinks and entertainment. The two story location consists of seven bars, such as a video bar, an outdoor bar, and the Bungalow bar, which includes male go-go dancers. Special features include an 80's and 90's music video night and amateur strip contests. Drink specials are featured throughout the week, such as two drinks for the price of one.
