Named for the citronella plant which grows in the area, Citronelle is located in Mobile County, 33 miles north of Mobile, Alabama. It has a population of 6,875 people. Though it was once known as a resort town with an abundance of healing herbs and waters, today it is more well-known for its oil field. It's also the site of a prominent Confederate surrender during the Civil War, which is re-enacted every year.
