Brookwood lies between the cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. Annual rainfall of 56 inches and summer highs in the 90s mean that Brookwood is very leafy. Wildlife abounds, with deer helping to keep the grass mowed around the town hall and eagles are seen flying over the Black Warrior River. River depth, docks and some recreation areas are managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Other recreational facilities can be found a few miles away at Tuscaloosa Lake.
