Illinois Waterparks

Throughout the year, visitors to Illinois will find a long list of exciting activities and attractions. One of these attractions are water parks suited for the entire family. Indoor and outdoor water parks, some of which are open year-round, are full of thrilling rides for people of all ages. Take advantage of the sun for a day, or purchase a season pass and keep on coming back.

  1. CoCo Key Water Resort

    • CoCo Key Water Resort at Clock Tower Resort and Conference Center is located in Rockford, Ill. This 60,000-square-foot indoor water park features four-story water slides, private pool-side cabanas, private party rooms and a huge video arcade. In this tropical-themed water park, kids can play in "Parrot’s Perch," a multi-level interactive play island with slides and water cannons and "Coral Reef Cavern." There is also a pool with water basketball and a lily-pad adventure. Other attractions include "Coconut Grove Adventure River," "Palm Grotto Indoor/Outdoor Spa" and "Gator’s Gush, Barracuda Blast & Pelican Plunge." You'll also find a kiddie pool, sun deck, a lifeguard and first-aid station and dining options. CoCo Key Water Resort is open year-round.

    Mayan Adventure Indoor Waterpark

    • The 24,000-square feet Mayan Adventure Indoor Waterpark by The Waverton Hotel is located in Elmhurst, Ill. Chicagoland's first indoor water park has a tube slide, body slide, a lazy river, pools, a play station and an arcade. Go tubing down "Grand Mayan Falls" or slide down "Howling Monkey." Drift down "Oogaboo Lazy River," splash around in "Twisted Lizard Family Activity Pool" of play in "Parrot Island Interactive Play Station." The park also features the 300-gallon "Mayan Head Dumping Bucket," and "Island Breeze Bar & Grill." Mayan Adventure Indoor Waterpark is open year-round.

    Raging Rivers Water Park

    • Located in Grafton, Ill., Raging Rivers Water Park has eight different areas that the whole family can enjoy. Some of the things that you can do are ride the waves in "Breaker Beach," slide down with or without a tube in "Cascade Body Flumes," play in "Treehouse Harbor" and ride down Swirlpool, which is actually three rides in one. Other attractions are "Itty Bitty Surf City," "Endless River," "Shark Slide," and "Runaway Rafts." Raging Rivers is open from May to September. You'll find a gift shop and food concessions stands are available.

    Caribbean Water Adventure

    • Caribbean Water Adventure in Springfield has boat rides, slides and pools. Ride on a bumper boat with a water canon or hit the lake on a four-seater pedal boat. Wind down the 1,297-foot long "Caribbean Wild River, splish and splash in the "Giant Wave Pool." and twist down the water slides -- one of which is at an almost 80-degree angle. Younger kids can play in two big activity pools in Seal Bay. Caribbean Water Adventure is a seasonal water park.
