Mississippi has five water parks scattered around the state. They offer fun ways to cool off on a hot summer day, and they attract many visitors during their special events and concerts, which change each season. The parks are open May through Labor Day weekend. Each park offers its own set of attractions including fast slides, relaxing pools, toddler activities and food options. Tickets may be purchased daily but season’s passes are more economical if you plan to return several times during the summer.
Geyser Falls Water Theme Park, in Choctaw, Mississippi, sits on the 23-acre Pearl River Resort casino complex. Twelve slides, a wave pool, lazy river and large activity areas for children make this park a family favorite. Geyser Falls is home to the popular Whitewater Express, a 300-foot racing slide that allows kids and parents to race with checkered flags and speed readings. Back Splash is the first two-person backwards waterslide in the United Sates. The Beach Club offers live entertainment with a full-service restaurant and tiki bar.
Grand Paradise Water Park is located in Collins, Mississippi. This smaller water park includes a bowl ride – Wipeout. The park is known for its wild waterslides. The Tropical Splash has speeds up to 30 miles per hour. The Grand Falls starts four stories up and the Blue Typhoon is an enclosed tube slide that begins three stories up in the air. The Palms food court offers snack food like hamburgers, pizza, BBQ pork sandwiches and chicken strips.
The Gulf Islands Water Park is a popular attraction in Gulfport, Mississippi. Home of the Gulf Coast’s only water roller coaster, the Horn Island Blaster is 500 feet of twists and turns and 45-degree drops. Ship Island Wreck is a waterslide designed for toddlers. The Lil’ Pelican Bay is a 200-square foot water play area that will keep kids and parents busy. The Waveland Wave Pool, Padscagoula crossing area, Spray St. Louis and the Lazy Pearl River will delight toddlers and teens plus give parents a little relaxation. Fast foods like hamburgers, hot dogs and salads are available for lunch.
Splashdown Country is located in the Okatibbee Water Park, located northwest of Meridian, Mississippi, and managed by the state. Adult and kid waterslides are open May through Labor Day. During the rest of the year, the park is popular for bass fishing, camping and water skiing. There is a concession stand in the water park and picnicking is allowed in Okatibbee.
Pep's Point is a spring-fed water park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. All of the water activities are done on the lake including waterslides, canoeing and paddleboats. Putt putt golf is a favorite activity at the park. A full-service campground and cabins are available for overnight stays. A snack bar is available for hot dogs, nachos and ice cream or treat the family to a picnic.
