Movie Theaters Near Oakridge, Oregon

Oakridge is a small town located in the foothills of the Western Cascade Mountains in Oregon, known as the "Mountain Biking Capital of the Northwest." However, if you are in Oakridge and want to go to the movies, you will need to drive quite a few miles to places like Eugene or Springfield to find the latest blockbuster or art house sensation.

  1. Springfield, Oregon

    • The closest large town to Oakridge with a cinema is Springfield, Oregon. Located about 40 miles northwest along the Willamette Highway, Springfield is home to two sizable multiplex cinemas. Cinemark 17 is home to 17 auditoriums and plays first-run, mainstream films. As of 2011, tickets cost $6 each for adults and $4 for seniors, children and all seats before 6pm. Springfield is also home to the Cinemark 12 theater, which runs second run films in its 12 auditoriums. All seats are $1.75 each in the evening, $1.50 before 6pm. On Friday and Saturday evenings tickets go up to $2 apiece.

    Eugene, Oregon

    • If you are looking for art films, you will have to travel another two miles west of Springfield and visit Eugene. Home to the University of Oregon, Eugene is also the spot to visit if you want to see something off the beaten path. Located in the heart of the city is the Bijou Art Cinemas. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for students and $5 for kids and seniors. On Mondays, all tickets are $3. There are two different auditoriums at the Bijou, but the cinema tends to play up to four different films on any given day.

    Considerations

    • Besides Eugene and Springfield, you will have to travel quite a distance to see a movie if you live in or are visiting Oakridge. There is the Regal Albany 7 Cinemas in Albany, but that is more than 80 miles away, as well as the Regal Pilot Butte 6 Theatres in Bend, almost 100 miles to the northeast. However, both of these cinemas will probably be playing the same movies that you will find in the Springfield multiplex.

    Alternatives

    • If you are in Oakridge and want to watch a movie, you can rent a DVD rather than drive for miles to a cinema. Redbox has a location at the McDonald's in Oakridge where you can rent DVDs. Also, We-B-Video is a rental store that shares a location with U-Haul in town.
