Springfield, Ohio, is in Clark County and is a short driving distance from Dayton, Ohio. Camping is a popular pastime, and several places to camp are available in the Springfield area, both with and without electrical hookups.

  1. Buck Creek State Park

    • Buck Creek State Park, with recreational facilities centered around the 2,120-acre C.J. Brown Reservoir, offers year-round camping with 111 campsites--89 with electricity, 22 without. Two campsites are handicap-accessible. Camping in designated areas also is allowed on the lake. Campground amenities include two heated shower houses, flush toilets, a coin-operated laundry facility, a playground, and a sandy beach that is designated for campers only. Campers may have pets, but there are limits: Only two pets are allowed per site; all pets must be on leashes all the time; and the leashes must not exceed 6 feet in length. Camping prices vary according to the day of the week and the time of the year.

    Enon Beach Campground

    • Enon Beach Campground has facilities and hookups for all kinds of camping, from tent sites along the lake to full-service hookups with electrical service. One cabin is available for rent. Camping amenities include a playground, swimming pool, and laundry facilities. Pets are welcome but must be leashed. Rates are by the day or by the week.

    Bass Lake Campground

    • Bass Lake Campground, offering 42 acres of woods and a lake, is west of Springfield, just off State Route 4. The 60 campsites are built on a former limestone quarry. Of the 60 sites, 39 have full hookups and 21 are primitive. Amenities include picnic tables and fire rings for each camp site; restrooms with hot showers; a playground, and a shelter house. Besides camping, you can fish in the lake or hike on trails around the campgrounds. Pets on leashes are allowed. The campground is open year round, but the restrooms are closed from late October through the middle of May.

    Rei Lakes

    • Rei Lakes, situated on 100 acres with about 60 acres of lakes, offers 64 campsites, 25 with full hookups and 39 with water and electric only. All are drive-up campsites. The campsites are located around Rei Lakes, several small lakes and one large one. Campfires are permitted on the sites and there is a bait store on-site for those interested in fishing the lakes. All campers get a discount on fishing fees.
