Free Camping Near Lima, Ohio

Lima is located in the northwest portion of Ohio, roughly 79 miles south of Toledo along Interstate 75. If you are looking for free camping sites in and around Lima, your choices are limited to parking lots. All of the free sites offer a free one night stay. If you're looking to stay longer than that, you'll need to pony up the cash and pay to stay at a regular campground.
  1. Walmart Supercenter

    • People driving RVs are allowed to park overnight for free at the Walmart Supercenter in Lima. Store policy says you must park somewhere under the lights and away from the main entrance. There are no RV hookups, but you can use the bathroom facility during regular store hours.

    Interstate 75 Rest Stop

    • There's a rest stop in Wapakoneta that's about 16 miles north of Lima along Interstate 75 that allows free overnight camping. Exit number 114 does not have RV hook-ups, but has public restrooms, telephones, a picnic area and vending machines. Since it's a rest stop, the facilities are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Ohio Department of Transportation along with Ohio State Troopers patrol this rest stop frequently.

    Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

    • Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars or their relatives can park an RV in the parking lot of the VFW overnight. All guests will need to sign in before hand. Because this is just a parking lot, there are no RV hookups, but you can use the VFW's facilities, including bathrooms, restaurant and bar and game rooms, during normal business hours.
