KOA Camping near Atlanta

As the third largest metropolitan area in the U.S., Atlanta touts a wide variety of entertainment and attraction options for any tourist camping at one of the nearby KOA campgrounds. However, because of the large city area, visitors need to travel a good distance from the nearest KOA to enjoy what the city has to offer. Prepare for a long commute no matter which one you choose.
  1. Cartersville / Cassville-White KOA

    • At the Cartersville KOA, you won't be on top of other campers like this.

      This site 50 miles north of Atlanta gives visitors the closest access to the city. Campers can relax at the swimming pool, let the kids loose at the playground, hit a round of golf, rent a bicycle or go fishing at Allatoona Lake (about 25 miles from KOA).

      The Cartersville KOA can accomodate any size vehicle up to a maximum length of 75 feet. As of July 2010, fees started at $23 a night.

    Calhoun KOA

    • Witness a Civil War re-enactment at the nearby Civil War Battlefields.

      The Calhoun KOA is in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains about 70 miles north of Atlanta. The campground has popular on site attractions such as horseback trail rides, mini-golf, swimming pool, a games room, fishing pond, bike rentals and a petting zoo. Pizza and other camp foods can be cooked and delivered to your tent from the snack bar. Other benefits include a tanning bed, a massage bed and free WIFI. It's close to the Carter's Lake Marina and Resort, the North Georgia Speedway (every Saturday) and the Civil War Battlefields.

      Fees began at $22 for a night for a tent with water and electric hook up as of July 2010. The Calhoun KOA can fit any vehicle up to 80 feet long.

    Forsyth KOA

    • The Forsyth KOA 60 miles south of Atlanta has swimming, fishing, WIFI, spacious sites (vehicles up to 100 feet in length) and bicycle rentals. The campground provides sites for tents, RVs and cabins with optional amenities like gas, firewood, electicity and cable TV.

      As of July 2010, the cost was $24 a night for a tent site with electricity and water.

    Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA

    • Found 120 miles north east of Atlanta, the Anderson/Lake Hartwell KOA has a huge variety of optional comforts such as gas, electriciy, water, firewood and cable TV. The campground also provides activities like a pool, mini golf, games room, bike rentals, and WIFI. This KOA can fit any RV up to 65 feet long. It's near the Blue Ridge Mountain trails and 50 waterfalls are all within a short drive.

      Charges for the Anderson KOA begin at $26 a night for a tent site with water and electricity as of July 2010.

    Chattanooga South / Lookout Mountain KOA

      Camp in the middle of Civil War territory at the Chattanooga South/Lookout Mountain KOA. This campground 120 miles north of Atlanta gives campers access to one of the biggest pools in the KOA system of campgrounds, free cable, DSL and WIFI. One nearby attraction is Ruby Falls, a 145-foot tall underground waterfall. Fees for a single tent site with electricity and water as of July 2010 begin at $28 a night.
