KOA Camping Grounds Near Maryland

Of the four states that border Maryland, all but Delaware play host to at least one KOA campground. Based on the region’s rich and storied past, many of the campgrounds reside near historic landmarks and attractions. Due to snowy conditions, some of the KOA campgrounds close during the cold winter months.

    • Situated in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the Gettysburg/Battlefield KOA resides approximately 10 miles north of the Maryland border. Campers can secure bus tours to Washington, D.C. or the Gettysburg Battlefield. The campground offers Civil War-themed entertainment, including Civil War-era songs, stories and fashion shows, as well as ghost tours. Additional on-site amenities include a swimming pool, a miniature golf course, and a snack bar. Camping facilities include RV and tent campsites, lodges, cottages and cabins outfitted with one or two rooms.

    Fredericksburg/Washington DC S. KOA

    • When traveling across Highway 301, the Fredericksburg/Washington DC S. KOA sits just 30 miles west of Maryland. The campground resides in the historic town of Fredericksburg, Virginia, home to numerous Civil War battles and Colonial-era buildings. The campground features a swimming pool and bicycle rentals for exploring the surrounding region. Guests may also fish on the premises completely free of charge. Other complimentary amenities include Wi-Fi access and firewood. The campground offers RV campsites with full hook-ups and cabins for rent.

    Harpers Ferry/Civil War Battlefields KOA

    • The Harpers Ferry/Civil War Battlefields KOA resides near a host of famed Civil War landmarks, including the Antietam National Battlefield and the site of John Brown’s anti-slavery rebellion movement. The actual campground features 280 campsites, equipped to handle both RV and tent camping. The campground plays host to scores of perks, including a swimming pool, a wading pool, a game room and basketball courts. Guests may also enjoy the on-site pizzeria and movie theater. The Potomac River divides the town of Harpers Ferry from the Maryland border.
