Tent Campgrounds in or Near Breckenridge, CO

Camping is a type of outing that allows a family, group of friends or even an individual to enjoy the great outdoors. Colorado has campgrounds throughout the state that cater to both RV camping and tent camping, allowing a camper to enjoy the outdoors in whichever method she prefers. The Breckenridge, Colo., area has a few campgrounds available.
  1. Kite Lake Campground

    • The Kite Lake Campground is located directly in Breckenridge. It is located directly next to Kite Lake and allows tent camping in the area. It has scenic mountains and the lake available for campers. There is hiking available and it costs $7 a night to stay on the campground, as of August 2010. There are seven camping locations within the campground, all of which are around or near Kite Lake.

    Tiger Run Resort

    • The Tiger Run Resort is located at 85 Tiger Run Circle in Breckenridge. It provides campgrounds for RVs and tents and has amenities available. Amenities include shopping, sightseeing, year-round outdoor sports that suit the season, historic scenery and bike paths for campers that bring their bikes. The scenic views makes the camping experience majestic, gives a sense of the outdoors and allows campers to feel nature, but the resort amenities make the camping experience more civilized with a town feel. As of August 2010, rates for camping range from $49 a night to $74 a night depending on the season.

    Four Mile Campground

    • The Four Mile Campground is about eight miles south of the Kite Lake campground and provides plenty of areas to hike. It is just off of Co Rd 18 by the Pike National Forest. This campground provides plenty of space for tent campers and is dry when compared to other campgrounds in the area.

    Dillon Ranger District of White River

    • The Dillon Ranger District of White River is slightly outside of Breckenridge and provides several campgrounds for campers. It is located in Silverthorne, Colo., and has 14 available campgrounds of various prices and heights. As of August 2010, the lowest price for camping is $5 a night at Willows campground and the highest price for camping is $190 a night at Windy Point Group. With the large variety available, there is space for tent camping and RV camping in this location.
