Camping by Cape Canaveral is a good way for tourists to save money, as campsites are much less expensive than a hotel room. The mild Florida weather also means there is a long camping season. However, the summer months can be rainy, so campers visiting during this time should be prepared to deal with some wet weather.
Visiting the Kennedy Space Center is a good way to explore NASA's history and the current space program. However, there are also plenty of beaches for swimming and soaking up the sun in the Cape Canaveral area. Alternatively, nature lovers will be able to bird watch, hike and fish, especially if they camp in less developed areas with more woods and wildlife.
Jetty Park Campground is the tent camping site closest to the town's other attractions. It offers a fishing area, beach and playground. Less than a 20-minute drive outside of Cape Canaveral in Titusville is the Manatee Hammock Campground, with river access and views of shuttle launches.
