Dover, Ohio Camping

Dover, Ohio, lies at the foothills of the Appalachians and is about an hour's drive from Akron. Weather in the spring and summer months is warm, while fall is cool. During the winter, the temperature is cold and brings snow. The Dover area has rolling hills and plenty of wildlife and outdoor activities. Although the city of Dover does not have many camping options, the Dover area has a variety of opportunities for camping.
  1. East Sparta

    • Canton/East Sparta KOA campground is approximately 15 miles from Dover. Guests may reserve tent sites, RV sites or cabins. Amenities accessible are complimentary wireless Internet connection, full hook-up with 50 amp, a laundry room and showers. This campground has planned weekend activities from May to October. Children can receive a pony ride for $ 15 per 20 minutes as of 2010. Miniature-golf is available for a small fee. In addition, guests 8 years old and up can take a guided horseback riding tour through the nearby woods. The game room, paddle boats and ATV/bike trails are available for a charge. The pool is open from May 28 to September 7. Guests may hike, play basketball, volleyball and badminton free.

    New Philadelphia

    • The 157-acre Wood's Tall Timber Lake Resort in New Philadelphia, about eight miles from Dover, is open from May 1 to October 31. This resort offers tent campsites, RV sites and cottages. Guests have access to the clubhouse, bait shop, coin-operated laundry facility and shower house. The 7-acre lake offers water slides, tube slides and diving boards. Canoe and paddle boats rental are also available. In addition, there is the Woodpecker Par 3 Golf Course, hiking trails and target range on the premises.

    Millersburg

    • In the heart of Amish Country sits Scenic Hills RV Park in Millersburg, about 26.4 miles from Dover, where rolling hills surround the 96-site park. This park permits motor homes, spacious coaches and attached trailers. There are 112 full hook-up sites, six large sites and 40 pull-throughs. Scenic Hills RV Park offers a dump station, 30 amp and 50 amp electric service and free wireless Internet access. The park allows air-conditioners and heaters. Picnic tables are set up throughout the grounds.

    Winesburg

    • Amish Country Campsites, about 20 miles from Dover, offers 50 RV campsites and 10 tent sites. Water, 20 amp electric, 30 amp electric and a dump station are available. Guests have access to warm showers in the restroom, free wood, complimentary Wi-Fi connection and telephone service.

    Navarre

    • Baylor Beach Park, about 16 miles from Dover, offers tent and RV camping sites. RV camping amenities available are 30/80 amp, full hook-ups, two dump stations and pull-through sites. RV camping opens from May 1 to October 15. Tent camping opens from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. There is no water or electricity available at the tent sites. The park allows a maximum of six family members per site. The park has a two-acre water park, complimentary wireless Internet, hot showers and restrooms.
