Fort Wilderness Resort offers four types of campsites to its guests--premium, preferred, full-hookup and partial-hookup. As of 2010, pricing varies between $47 and $110 per night depending on the type of campsite and the time of year. Rates tend to be higher on weekends and holidays. High speed Internet is available in all sites for an additional fee. Safe deposit boxes are available upon request.
Partial-hookup sites accommodate two tents or a pop-up camper. Water and cable hookups are on site. Electrical outlets include 20 amp/120 volt, 30 amp/120 volt, 50 amp/25 volt. Charcoal grill and a picnic table are provided.
Full-hookup sites provide the same amenities as the partial with the addition of a sewer hookup. It is also large enough to accommodate a single RV and tent.
Preferred sites are large enough to accommodate the largest of motor homes, Disney says. These also feature an upgraded picnic table and grill.
Premium sites differ from the preferred sites only in that they offer a larger parking area and the location is closer to the activities.
According to Disney, the campground offers an on-site grocery store where guests may purchase supplies as well as movie rentals. Fort Wilderness offers two childcare options. A babysitter can be arranged to stay with children in your RV, or you can even hire one to accompany you to the parks for assistance. Electric carts can be rented on-site for easier travel. A kennel is available to pet owners who wish to pamper their pets while on vacation.
Kevin Mims of Visit Florida lists several activities that are offered. Anglers can take guided fishing tours or fish independently in one of Disney’s catch-and release lakes. Horseback riding and horse-drawn carriage tours are available. Fort Wilderness features a swimming pool for guests. Several playgrounds are located throughout the resort. Other activities include Segway tours, jogging/nature trails, dinner theater, archery and a petting zoo.
Disney says it will honor special requests made by guests with special needs, such as the need for service animals. Disney also provides equipment for guests who require the service. Telephones for the hearing impaired may be provided. Wheelchair-accessible rooms and bathrooms are also available at Fort Wilderness.
