List of Villages in Maryland

Located in the northeast corner of the United States, the state of Maryland has a variety of cities and towns to choose from as well as a few tiny villages. These tiny towns make a great place to call home in New England and have many amenities, services, parks and programs to offer their residents. Many of them have been in existence since the middle of the 19th century and maintain the same charm they did more than 100 years ago.

  1. Chevy Chase Village

    • Chevy Chase Village, established in 1890, is the epitome of a small New England town. According to data by the United States Census Bureau, this village had about 2,000 residents, according to the 2000 Census. It is governed by a Board of Managers and offers its residents a public works department as well as a police department. Several things to do in Chevy Chase Village include visiting the National Library of Medicine or the Chevy Chase Pavilion. There is also the Chevy Chase Club, which is a members-only country club where members are welcome to relax, dine and play golf.

    Friendship Heights Village

    • Friendship Heights Village is a small village located near the Washington D.C. border. Though small, it offers its residents a community center and park at the Friendship Heights Village Center and Friendship Park, located right in the heart of the village. It is governed by a Village Council. According to data from the United States Census Bureau, about 4,500 people live in Friendship Heights Village. There are several new developments in Friendship Heights Village, including Wisconsin Place, which is a high-rise development with family housing, a new grocery store, several parks and a community center. There is also a new hotel, a Courtyard Marriott and a former corporate site is being renovated into more family housing units.

    Village of Drummond

    • Another historical village in the state of Maryland is the Village of Drummond. Drummond was incorporated near the beginning of the 20th century. It has long been promoted as a quaint, New England town where time moves a little slower. The village government consists of three people -- the mayor, treasurer and secretary. The Village of Drummond is a quaint quadrant of the larger Chevy Chase, Maryland area and mostly consists of residential housing units.
