With a Zagat review of 25 in food and 23 in decor and service, Max's has been picked as one of the best, by the best. Richard Rosenthal brought the experience of opening four restaurants to the table before he finally came to Max's, but decided he wanted to open a restaurant with an emphasis on seafood, something he had not tried before. Rosenthal hired designer Peter Niemetz to create a big city feel for this local restaurant. Private dining is available, as is takeout. In addition to the raw oyster bar, the dinner menu includes dishes such as pan-roasted longline cod and Connecticut lobster.
