Places to Eat on the Boardwalk at Ocean City, Maryland

Named one of the "Top 10 Great Boardwalks" by USA Today, the 3-mile walkway in downtown Ocean City, Maryland is the city's main entertainment area. The boardwalk is home to attractions including a Ferris wheel, roller coaster, aquarium and the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum. Visitors can also enjoy cycling and rollerblading, and afterward enjoy a meal at one of the boardwalk's restaurants.

  1. Phillips by the Sea

    • This popular seafood restaurant began in 1956 as a small crab shack in downtown Ocean City and presently has three locations in the city and six more around the eastern United States. The restaurant is on the boardwalk, inside the Beach Plaza Hotel. Along with an a la carte menu, Phillips by the Sea offers an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet and opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves beer, wine and a range of cocktails including flavored daiquiris that are served in souvenir glasses. Frommer's recommends choosing a table on the front porch as the dining room can get noisy. Phillips is closed in December, January and February.

    Da Vinci's by the Sea

    • Located behind Phillips by the Sea, and just a few steps from both the Commander and Buckingham hotels, Da Vinci's has been serving Italian cuisine for over 20 years. Entrees include crab ravioli, eggplant parmigiana and veal marsala, and are accompanied by freshly baked Italian bread with garlic butter and a side salad with homemade dressing. Da Vinci's offers an extensive list of wines by the bottle or glass, along with a selection of bottled beers. The restaurant also offers a catering service and can arrange cocktail receptions and seated dinners for large groups. Da Vinci's closes from early October through April.

    Macky's Bayside Bar and Grill

    • Macky's Bayside Bar and Grill is situated a few minutes walk from the boardwalk and a short stroll from hotels including the Best Western and Quality Inn. This waterfront restaurant has a private stretch of beach and has tables on the ocean edge where guests can enjoy bay views and sunsets -- although Frommer's advises that these tables fill up first. Open for lunch, dinner and late-night snacks, Macky's specializes in seafood and entrees include Maryland crab, coconut shrimp and crab cakes. The bar serves wine, beer and specialty cocktails that include the "Mojo Rumba," prepared using a secret recipe. Macky's offers discounted food and drink prices every evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This restaurant is closed during the off season -- mid-October to mid-April.
