The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is located about 9 miles from downtown Atlanta. It features more than 200 concessions for various commercial services including food, beverages and retail shopping. Acknowledged as the busiest passenger airport in the United States, with a terminal complex comprising of one international and six domestic concourses, the airport is conveniently serviced by the trains and buses of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). Fulton County Airport at Charlie Brown Field is located west of Atlanta and is the nearest local airport from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Atlanta's primary air hub. Primarily used for local and transient general aviation in the Atlanta area, it handles much of the air traffic outside Hartsfield-Jackson. It is under the operation of the County of Fulton via the Fulton County General Services Department, which ensures the maintenance of all buildings, runways, ramps, access roads and parking lots of the airport. Fulton County Airport is located near Interstate 20, Interstate 285 and the Chattahoochee River. It is also referred to as the Charlie Brown Airport or Brown Field.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is the main rapid-transit system in the Atlanta metropolitan area with a network of bus routes linked to Atlanta airports, train stations and major public highways. It operates almost exclusively in Fulton and DeKalb counties in Georgia, plus another set of bus services to two destinations in Cobb County. The MARTA system allows bicycles on its trains and buses. For easy boarding, travelers can take advantage of color-coded guides through blue, gold and orange striped signs identifying MARTA stops, stations and vehicles. Its entire bus fleet system also provides convenient services for elderly and disabled passengers. All buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts and tie-downs, along with priority seating provisions at the front of every bus for senior citizens and persons using wheelchairs.
Greyhound has more than 2,400 service locations in North America, including two terminals operating in Atlanta: one along Forsyth Street in downtown Atlanta and another at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. As in other major U.S. cities, Atlanta's Greyhound terminals provide full-service ticketing and package express services. They regularly operate scheduled day and night bus trips to fit the diverse preferences of passengers.
