Long Island Beach Camping

Long Island provides visitors with camping sites on sandy beaches or areas that provide access to the beach. The New York State Parks enable you to surf, fish, hike, swim, hunt, or ski, depending on the time of year and the park's locations.

  1. Heckscher State Park

    • Located on the South Shore of Long Island in Suffolk County, Heckscher State Park offers 69 camping sites, 20 miles of hiking trails, swimming in the bay or in the pool complex. In addition, boat launch and picnic areas are available. Dogs are also permitted; some restrictions apply. Rates for camping are $16 a night with a $4 weekend surcharge and a $5 out-of-state surcharge. Vehicle entry fees differ depending on season and type of vehicle.

    Hither Hills State Park

    • On Highway NY 27E, approximately five miles from Montauk Point and 120 miles from Manhattan, Hitther Hills State Park offers 168 ocean-front campsites, woodland hiking opportunities and bridle and bike paths, in addition to sport fishing opportunities with the proper permit. For NY State residents, camping fees begin at $28 per night and $56 per night for out-of-state residents. This park is open year round.

    Wildwood State Park

    • 73 miles from Manhattan, and overlooking the bluff of Long Island Sound, Wildwood State Park offers 314 sites for both trailers and tents. Situated on the south shore of Long Island, the park provides two miles of beaches for swimmers and fishing enthusiasts. The fees for camping sites range in price from $15 to $31 per night.
