Whitewater State Park (dnr.state.mn) has 104 drive-in campsites for tents, trailers and RVs up to 50 feet in length, 47 of which include 50-amp electrical hookups. The campsites are spread over several different loops, with some sites along the river, some in secluded woods and others in open, grassy areas. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Other amenities include year-round vault toilets, plus seasonal restroom/shower facilities and an RV dump station that are open from April to October. The park also has six primitive tent sites, which require a walk of 300 to 650 yards, and a camper cabin that sleeps five, has electricity and a space heater and is open from April to November. Leashed pets are allowed in the campground but not the cabin.
Whitewater State Park has several camping options open to large groups or organizations. Three primitive group campgrounds each accommodate from 20 to 50 people and include tent-only campsites, a water pump and vault toilets. The park also has a year-round group center that can accommodate up to 132 people. The center includes eight heated cabins, community bathroom and shower facilities, and a dining hall with modern kitchen.
Camping reservations at Whitewater State Park can be made online through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (dnr.state.mn.us) or by calling 866-857-2757, although some sites are held to be used on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations for campsites and camper cabins can be made up to one year in advance, and rates typically are slightly lower during the winter off-season. Group Center reservations should be made by calling the park at 507-932-3007.
