Kobe Steaks Japanese Restaurant is an award winning Japanese steakhouse in Dallas, Texas. The restaurant focuses on the Japanese hibachi-style of cooking where a gas or charcoal powered flat top griddle, or hibachi, is heated and used as the main cooking source.

  1. History

    • Owner Katsuhiko "Vic" Watanabe opened the first Kobe Steaks Japanese Restaurant in Atlanta over 30 years ago. In 1977, he expanded to Nashville. Then in 1978, he introduced hibachi-style cooking to Dallas, Texas.

    Ambiance

    • Guests gather around a hibachi grill for dinner where the table's personal chef not only cooks and prepares the meal, he also entertain with his knife-wielding skills and showmanship. The trained chef tosses food into the air and onto the grill and does a series of culinary tricks using his utensils, food and fire. Semi-private rooms are available as well as sunken tables for large groups.

    Menu

    • Just like the name implies, Kobe Steaks offers U.S. beef that has been raised in the traditional Japanese style. Wagyu cattle are fed sake and beer to stimulate their appetites and are massaged by hand daily for optimum tenderness. Choose from a variety of cuts including filet mignon, sirloin, rib eye or N.Y. strip. Also on offer is a selection of seafood including shrimp, salmon and scallops and a variety of chicken dishes. Sides include hibachi grilled vegetables and the restaurant's signature "flaming onion volcano." Beverages include a selection of exotic libations including sake, plum wine and specialty cocktails like the Samurai's Sword and the Geisha Special, as well as traditional beverages and Japanese beers.

    Hours

    • Kobe Steaks Japanese Restaurant is open seven days a week for dinner only. The restaurant welcomes guests Sunday from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10:30 p.m., and from 5 to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, and Saturdays, from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m.

    Reservations

    • Kobe Steaks Japanese Restaurant accepts reservations from Sunday through Thursday. No reservations are taken for Fridays and Saturdays, as the restaurant caters strictly to walk-in diners on those nights.
