A large selection of airlines fly non-stop and connecting flights to San Diego International Airport/Lindbergh field. The San Diego Airport opened in 1928, and is now the busiest single-runway airport in America. The airport is separated into three terminals (1, 2 and Commuter) and is located just three miles from downtown San Diego.
Four airlines arrive at Terminal 1 of the San Diego Airport: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines. Terminal 1 is located in the center of the airport, and houses gates 1 to 18 at the airport. Terminal 1 also contains several bookstores and gift shops, bars restaurants and cafes.
Terminal 2 is the largest and busiest at the airport. It is located on the west side of the airport. Fifteen airlines in all dock at the terminal 2: Air Canada, Aero Mexico, Allegiant Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines and Connections, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, jetBlue Airways, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Sun County Airlines, U.S. Airways, Virgin America and WestJet. Aside from bookstores, restaurants and cafes, terminal two contains a wireless store, two candy stores and several clothing stores.
The Commuter terminal holds a shoeshine shop and a currency exchange along with two restaurants. Only four airlines provide service to the commuter terminal, and the flights travel to and from Los Angeles; the airlines are American Eagle, Delta Connection, U.S. Airways Express and United Express.
