Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is centrally located between the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs, and is managed by the Metropolitan Airports Commission, according to the airport's website. Sun Country is a hometown airline based in Minneapolis and founded by a group of pilots and flight attendants in 1982, according to the airline's website. Initially operating charter flights, Sun Country now offers an extensive schedule of warm weather destinations and other major cities to and from Minneapolis. Destinations include 24 international and national locations, including Denver, Los Angeles, Orlando, Palm Springs, Tucson, Mexico and Phoenix. Seven additional destinations are scheduled to be added in mid-2010. Sun Country offers a frequent-flyer program rewarding points for future travel redemption.

Frontier Airlines operates from Terminal 1 at Minneapolis-St. Paul and flies directly to Milwaukee or Denver, where many more cities are accessible by connecting flights. Airbus planes serve Frontier's customers and feature distinctive pictures of 60 different animals such as grizzly bears, coyotes and rabbits on the tail fins, according to the airline's website.
