Every year, many of the state's families head to the lakes, mountains, rivers and woods for a camping trip. If they don't want to leave the furriest member of the family behind, there are several cabins that have established pet-friendly policies.

  1. Lake Hartwell Camping and Cabins

    • Lake Hartwell Campground lies on 62 acres at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests can enjoy 35 miles of hiking trails, plenty of fishing, and a boat launch that puts you right on Lake Hartwell. There are seven fully equipped cabins on site. The cabins feature large decks, full kitchens and private bathrooms. Two of the cabins are right on the lake. They are available to rent year-round, and reservations can be made online.

    Valley Park Resort?

    • This resort sits just 20 miles outside of Greenville on a pleasant site full of dogwood trees. Four state parks lie within 20 miles of the resort, offering a myriad of options for outdoor enthusiasts. Four luxury cabins are available to rent year-round. The cabins are full of modern amenities, including wireless Internet, cable television, gas fireplaces and full kitchens. The cabins are spread out throughout the resort's 22 acres, giving guests a sense of privacy and room for your dog to run around.

    Point South KOA

    • Point South can be found on South Carolina's southern tip. An eclectic number of items are sprinkled throughout the grounds, including a red English phone booth, bizarre fountains and a Victorian trolley where guests can sleep. A swimming pool is open to all visitors, and plenty of fishing and hiking opportunities lie nearby. Five cabins are available to rent, each following a different Civil War theme. Amenities include a front porch swing, picnic tables and grills. It should be noted that the cabins share external bathroom and shower facilities. They are available for rent year-round, and it is recommended that you make your reservations far in advance, especially for summer trips.
