Lake Okeechobee is the largest lake in the southern United States, and it is one of Florida's vacation hot spots. It is less than 50 miles north of Miami and its waters feed into the Everglades. There are many RV resorts and campgrounds along its shores, in cities like Okeechobee, Pahokee, Buckhead Ridge and Clewiston. These campgrounds often have other accommodations like tent sites and cabins, and many have marinas for boating and fishing.
The Okeechobee Outpost is at East Main Street and Highway 715, on the southeastern shore near Pahokee State Park. There are more than 100 campsites on the lake shore, including RV sites with full hookups, and cabins. The Outpost Marina was rebuilt in 2009, and offers wet slips to both camping guests and the public. The Outpost also offers an outdoor resort-style swimming pool, fishing pier and boat rentals, shops for both campers and boaters and laundry and restroom facilities.

The Crooked Hook is in Clewiston, on the southwestern shore off U.S. Highway 27. The nearly 190 RV sites have 30- or 50-amp hookups, and pull-throughs for big rigs are available. The resort offers a heated indoor pool, a fitness center, restrooms and showers, a fish-cleaning station and free wireless Internet service.

The Okee-Tantie Campground is at the mouth of the Kissimmee River at the lake's north end, just off of Highway 78. More than 300 campsites are available with sewer and phone hookups. Pets are welcome with some restrictions, and the campground has boat ramps, fish-cleaning stations, fuel docks, picnic areas and a recreation hall. The Lightsey Fish Company and Seafood restaurant is located near the campgrounds.
