Buck Hill Falls has gained widespread attention for its reports of paranormal activity. Buck Hill Inn is the most prominent site, although, Stroudsmoor Country Inn, Henryville Inn, the Skytop Inn and the Inn at Tannersville have reported activity as well.
According to the "Stroud Courier," the student newspaper of East Stroudsburg University, five people died in room 354 of Buck Hill Inn since it opened in 1901. One woman was reportedly killed by the priest who performed her wedding ceremony. The priest then committed suicide on the grounds. A maid also reportedly committed suicide in room 354. An accountant was reportedly killed in the basement, where observers say that they still feel his presence. There were also three killings in one of the bathrooms on the site. The town of Buck Hill Falls was once a renowned vacation spot for the wealthy, but in the wake of these well-publicized events, the area has lost much of its tourist-based profits.
The Buck Hill Inn was featured on "MTV's Fear" series in 2000. The location has also been recognized for its history of paranormal phenomenon in the novel "Haunted Places: The National Directory."
Kelly Weaver, a psychic/medium featured on the MTV episode that featured the Buck Hill Inn, stated that she felt the presence of several spirits on the grounds -- spirits of people who reportedly were killed there.
