Free & Fun Things to Do in Branson, Missouri

Branson, Missouri features a wide range of activities to partake in, some of which are totally free of charge. From museums, to beaches, to water shows, both tourists and residents alike in Branson can find free ways to spend an afternoon. While some attractions are not free to adults, they are free for children of a certain age, which helps to reduce the cost of a family outing.

  1. The Beach

    • Residents or visitors of Branson, Missouri looking to take in the beach life, at least for a day, would be well advised to check out Moonshine Beach, located just north of Tablerock Lake on Tablerock Dam. Outside of swimming and other water-related activities a beach can provide, Moonshine Beach is also equipped with a playground for the young, or young at heart, as well as a picnic area. Moonshine Beach is open from May 15 until Sept. 15. Restrooms are provided, as are showers in case you need to clean off after an afternoon in the ocean or playground. Hotels are located nearby, including the Meadows resort in the event that you'd like to extend your trip.

    Fountains of Light

    • Those in Branson, Missouri who are interested in checking out a water-and-light show--and have no desire to travel to Disneyland--may take advantage of the Branson Landing, a 1.5-mile boardwalk along side the Taneycomo Lakefront. Located in the heart of Branson Landing is a $7.5 million water attraction that features fountains shooting water 120 feet into the air combined with fire, and choreographed to music and light. Created by the Wet Design company, the Branson Landing Fountains are operational Monday through Sunday with daily shows beginning at noon and running every hour on the hour until 10 p.m. A special presentation, in which the water-and-light show is set to the Star Spangled Banner, occurs at 12 p.m., 7 p.m., and 10 p.m.

    Museums

    • Two museums in Branson, Missouri are free to children of a certain age. The Titanic Museum is free to children aged 4 and younger and allows guests to explore a recreation of 20 different rooms that were located onboard the historical Titanic ship. Guests may also explore the gallery in order to get a glimpse of 400 different artifacts from the Titanic that are now on display. Children 4 and under can also enjoy the Hollywood Wax Museum located in Branson for free. The Wax Museum, which opened in 1996, has a unique version of Mt. Rushmore that features the faces of John Wayne, Charlie Chaplin, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.
