Northern California Kids' Attractions

Northern California is home to the following cities: San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, Concord and San Jose. The region feature beaches, attractions, kids' activities and outdoor fun. The many attractions include museums, historical sites, a few zoos and a variety of attractions for children.

  1. Children's Fairyland

    • Children's Fairyland is a 10-acre park located on the shores of Lake Merritt. Fairyland has been open since 1950 and it features gentle rides, storybook sets, puppet shows, live entertainment and friendly animals. Fairyland is available for birthday parties, summer camps, sleepovers, special events and field trips. Some of the storybook sets include Alice in the Wonderland Tunnel, Dragon Slide, Willie the Whale, Happy Dragon, Peter Rabbit's Garden and the Fairy Music Farm Tunnel. The rides are the Jolly Trolley, Wonder-Go-Round, Flecto Carousel and Anansi's Magic Web.

    Pixieland Amusement Park

    • The Pixieland Amusement Park is located in Concord and has rides and the Kids' Cafe. The park hosts birthday parties. Rides include the Tea Cups, Frog Hopper, Red Baron Airplanes, Windy Grove Cars and the Carousel. Pixeland offers group rates for camps, organizations and schools. Birthday parties include a two-and-a-half hour party and unlimited rides for up to 10 guests; pizza and goodie bags are available for an extra fee. The Kids' Cafe offers corn dogs, hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, French fries, chicken nuggets, ice cream, popcorn and other snacks.

    Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose

    • The Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose has more than 150 interactive exhibits for children. Some of the exhibits include the Kids' Garden, Rainbow Pizza and Market, Secrets of Circles, Streets, Bubbalogna, Cornhusk Dolls and WaterWays. The Kids' Garden is a real working garden with fruits, vegetables and herbs where children can participate in different activities. The Rainbow Pizza and Market is where children can create a healthy pizza using fruits and vegetables. WaterWays will allow children to make their own fountain at the Waterfall Wall and enjoy many activities using water and balls. The museum also offers a program called Music Together for children, which is an internationally recognized music program for babies, preschoolers, toddlers and adults.
