According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in 2005 Iowa ranked No. 1 in the U.S. in the production of hogs and pigs, layers (chickens raised to lay eggs), corn and soybeans. It's not surprising, then, that one of Iowa's biggest trade shows exhibits farm and agricultural equipment. Iowa has a variety of other trade shows as well that range from biological research to quilting.
Trade Show Productions stages gun shows in Iowa regularly. Their goal is to produce "the most professional, safest and ethical gun shows in the country." As of 2010, Iowa Gun Shows are held throughout the year in Des Moines at the Iowa State Fairgrounds and Adventureland Park and in Cedar Rapids at Hawkeye Downs.

American Quilter's Society (AQS) holds a quilting expo trade show each fall at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The expo offers quilt-making supplies and gifts from as many as 300 vendors. The contests at the annual quilt expo offer monetary prizes, as well as beautifully crafted quits.

As of 2010, the Iowa Power Farming Show hosted over 1,600 booths with more than $26 million worth of agricultural equipment on display. In addition to ag equipment such as tractors, combines, utility vehicles and grain trailers, the vendors offer corn stoves and agricultural management software. The show is held in three venues in Des Moines: Wells Fargo Arena, Hy-Vee Exhibit Hall and Polk County Convention Complex.
